DiStefano comes to New Paltz from the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at the University at Albany where, since 1997, she helped lead the institution as the assistant vice president.

As the Chief Operational Officer of Albany Nanotech – a role she took on in 2004 – DiStefano managed a $60 million operating budget, an $800 million research and development contract portfolio and a $92 million building expansion budget.

Additionally, she oversaw the college’s related physical infrastructure, administrative services, human resources, accounts payable and purchasing efforts.

DiStefano’s 30 years of experience in the field of finance and administration includes senior-level management positions in such higher education institutions as Excelsior College in Albany and Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs.

Prior to entering the field of higher education, she worked in the private sector as a financial consultant and accountant.

“As the search committee and those who met with her can attest, DiStefano is a wise, practical and engaging person with a terrific background for her new post,” said College President Steven Poskanzer.

At New Paltz, DiStefano is the college’s senior non-academic administrator and chief financial officer.

Her responsibilities include overseeing the college’s operating and capital budgets, revenues, expenditures, business activities and debt, as well as being accountable for the financial viability and integrity of the college.
