Awards, Honors, Appointments and Recognition

Jan Hammond (Educational Administration) was named the New York State Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development’s (NYSASCD) Educator of the Year. The School of Education hosted a reception to honor her on Oct. 14.

Jan Hammond (Educational Administration) was named the New York State Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development’s (NYSASCD) Educator of the Year. The School of Education hosted a reception to honor her on Oct. 14.

Mary Kahl (Communication and Media) was awarded the 2009 Feminist Scholar/Mentor Award by the Organization for the Study of Communication, Language and Gender. The award recognizes sustained scholarship about women’s communication practices and an exemplary record of academic mentorship. Kahl will receive the award in October at the annual OSCLG Conference in Los Angeles.

The New Paltz collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association in the School of Business, under the direction of faculty adviser is Ted Clark (Business), is one of two chapters nationwide to be awarded a $500 grant from the International American Marketing Association Collegiate Division. The grant is to help support the organization’s regional conference which took place on Oct. 16 in van den Berg Hall.

Mohammad Zunoubi (Electrical and Computer Engineering) was awarded the 2009 United States Air Force Summer Faculty Fellowship. He spent 10 weeks at the Brooks City Air Force Base in Texas and conducted research related to advance techniques in computational electromagnetics. His work has already resulted in the submission of two journal papers and two invited national and international conference presentations to be held in January 2010.
