Gerald Sorin (History, Emeritus) published review essays in the English language monthly “Books” section of Israel’s Haaretz newspaper in August 2009 on “The Essays of Leonard Michaels”; November 2009 on Paul Rudnick’s memoir, “I Shudder: And other reactions to Life, Death, and New Jersey”; and in February 2010, on David Horowitz’s memoir, “A Cracking of the Heart.” He also published review essays for “The Jewish Reader,” the webzine of the National Center for Yiddish Books in September 2009, on Norman Lebrecht’s novel, “The Game of Opposites,” and in January 2010, on Philip Roth’s latest novel, “The Humbling.” For the last two go to www.jewishreader.org.

Ron Knapp (Geography/Asian Studies, Emeritus) has just published “Chinese Houses of Southeast Asia: The Eclectic Architecture of Sojourners and Settlers” (Tuttle, 2010). His book, “Chinese Bridges: Living Architecture from China’s Past,” was named an Outstanding Academic Title by Choice in its January 2010 issue.
