The New Paltz Alumni Association is seeking nominations for its 2010 Alumni Association Awards. The Alumni Association recognizes and rewards achievements of its alumni, and the college faculty, as well as notable friends of the Alumni Association from the community each year. The Alumni Awards will be presented in March 2011 at the Association’s annual Alumni Awards Reception. The New Paltz 2010 Reunion pictures are now available online through the first week of December.  Go to www.MGphotoman.com and click on the RED box on the upper left that says “Clients’ click here to view your photo assignments.” Look for the SUNY NP Reunion folders and click on any of them to open. Photos enlarge when clicking on them. Orders can be taken directly on that Web site and will be mailed individually. Photos are identified by their IMG four digit numbers. Retired senior U.S. Defense Intelligence Officer William G. Thom (’67, Geography) has written a memoir about his 35-year career in intelligence and four decades of warfare in sub-Saharan Africa, titled “African Wars: A Defense Intelligence Perspective. While working on his undergraduate degree at New Paltz, Thom became committed to an education and career in African Studies. African Wars is distributed in the United States by Michigan State University Press, and published by The University of Calgary Press.

Nava Atlas (’07, Art), Maureen Cummins and Ann Lovett (Art) are exhibiting artists’ books and related installations at the Muroff-Kotler Gallery at SUNY Ulster. The show, titled In Retrospect, runs through Dec. 10. This is the exhibit’s third stop on a two-year, multi-venue traveling schedule. For information, contact Atlas at navaatlas@mac.com.
