All Work-Study departments that have been granted a Federal Work Study allocation for the 2011-2012 academic year are invited to participate in the seventh annual Federal Work-Study Job Fair on Wednesday, Aug. 31. For job fair flyer, visit here.
Federal Work Study awards amounted to $1,170,845,000 nationwide in 2010 and the average award per student is approximately $1,500. It is a significant amount and helps students with their education and introduces them to the workplace environment and assists college departments to run more smoothly during the academic year.
This event will be held on campus from 11:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Student Union Building. Department representatives should plan on arriving at 11 a.m. and are welcome to bring a bag lunch with them. The Work Study Coordinator along with Payroll will go over hiring forms and important information.
During this event, students who have been awarded Work Study for the upcoming year will meet with various departments that are looking to interview and hire Work Study students. Also, paperwork will be submitted to the Work Study Coordinator, in order to reduce the time it takes for Work Study students to get on the payroll. A Federal Work Study award is not a guarantee of a job. Students who cannot attend the job fair can review the list of departments that hire Work Study students. Following the job fair, a list of available Work Study positions with contact information will be posted on the Financial Aid Web site in the “Work Study” section.
Department representatives should register to attend by Aug. 15 by contacting Cynthia Harkins by e-mail at harkinsc@newpaltz.edu or by phone at (845) 257-3247. The Office of Financial Aid, in conjunction with the Office of Student Activities, is bringing this event to you. Campus Auxiliary Services will provide refreshments.
