Distinguished Speaker Series presents Dr. Debra Humphreys: Liberal Education and the 21st Century Global Economy. Thursday, April 12, 7:30 p.m. in Lecture Center 100.
Dr. Debra Humphreys is vice president for communications and public affairs at the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) and an expert on liberal arts education. A showcase highlighting the research and creative activity of New Paltz students and their faculty mentors precedes the event and a faculty panel will discuss New Paltz examples of high-impact educational practices after Humphreys speaks. Humphreys’ lecture is one of the events that celebrates the inauguration of Dr. Donald P. Christian, the College’s eighth president, on April 13.
Building Capacity: Managing and Mitigating Responder Stress. Friday, April 20, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. The Ninth Annual Institute for Disaster Mental Health (IDMH) Conference will consist of a set of trainings that focus on building responder capacity and maintaining resilience among trauma and disaster workers. Environmental Awareness and Sustainability Day. Saturday, May 5, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Talks, activities, games, a panel on green living. Several student organizations will be participating, as well as the Cary Institute, NYSDEC and university professors. Event is open to the public and free of charge. Located in LC 100, the Old Main, and the quad.
