Professor Emeritus Gerald Sorin (History) has had four review essays published in the monthly Books section of the Israeli newspaper, Haaretz (The Land): “Unlikely Collaboration,” by historian Barbara Will, who exposes the fascist background and activities of Gertrude Stein (Dec. 1, 2011); “What We Talk About When We Talk About Anne Frank,” short stories by Nathan Englander (March 2012); “Breaking and Entering,” a novel by Eileen Pollack (April 2012); and Bernard Avishai’s Promiscuous, a literary and historical analysis of Philip Roth’s Portnoy’s Complaint (June 2012). In June, Sorin also delivered a talk, “Writing Biography: The Historian’s Challenge,” at the biennial conference of the American Jewish Historical Society in New York City.
