In honor of Autism Awareness Month, New Paltz’s student organization, Autism Speaks, has teamed up with Student Activities, the Disability Resource Center, and Campus Auxiliary Services to host three events on campus in April.
On April 1, Cameron Kirkpatrick, a local high school senior with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, spoke about the challenges he has overcome due to his disability. On April 3, a short film entitled, “The Asperger’s Difference,” was shown and discussed. On April 20, an Autism Awareness Walkathon, complete with food, raffles, and giveaways, will be held on campus. For more information, email Anne Osowski in the Disability Resource Center.
