Nicolette Glebatis ’12 (Communication Disorders) has been named valedictorian. Glebatis earned a Bachelor of Arts in December 2012 and will participate in the May 2013 Commencement ceremony, at which she will deliver the valedictory address. Glebatis, who hails from Nassau, N.Y. She minored in deaf studies. Joseph Bacchi ’13 (Philosophy) is the salutatorian. Bacchi graduates with a minor in religious studies. His hometown is Highland, N.Y.
The 2013 Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony will be held on Old Main Quad on Sunday, May 19, 10 a.m.-noon, for August/December 2012 graduates and May/August 2013 candidates. The Graduate Commencement Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 17, 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m., also on Old Main Quad. President Donald P. Christian will preside over both ceremonies. Former U.S. Representative Maurice D. Hinchey, a New Paltz alumnus who earned a Bachelor’s degree in English in ’68 and a Master’s degree in education in ’70, will receive an honorary doctorate of humane letters. Lori DuBord, a ’94 New Paltz alumna and long-time regional representative for Congressman Hinchey, will be the commencement speaker.
