Five New Paltz softball players have been named NFCA NCAA Division III Scholar-Athletes

Chelsea Kull ’15, Erika Traina ’16, Katie Rutcofsky ’17, Noelle Grande ’16, and Shayna Burgess ’16 of the New Paltz softball team were selected as National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NCAA Division III Scholar-Athletes for the 2012-13 academic year, as announced by the NFCA.

In order to be picked as an NFCA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade-point average at or above 3.5. Four other State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) schools also boasted NFCA Scholar-Athletes: The College at Brockport (10), SUNY Cortland (6), Buffalo State (2) and SUNY Plattsburgh (2).

New Paltz went 20-19 (11-7 SUNYAC) in 2013 and qualified for the SUNYAC Softball Championship Tournament for the first time since 2010.
