Professor Lewis Brownstein (Political Science), who is retiring after 44 years teaching at New Paltz, has been awarded Emeritus status by the College. Lewis was honored at a farewell celebration on May 4 at the College Terrace. Members of the Center for Research, Regional Education and Outreach (CRREO), the Office of Institutional Research & Planning, and the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art have been awarded a grant in the amount of $20,000 from The New York Community Trust to measure the economic impact of the arts in the Mid-Hudson Valley. Student research and creative activity to be showcased in Minds at Work
An afternoon of presentations, readings, posters, and exhibitions will celebrate the remarkable work New Paltz students completed in the 2012-13 academic year. This year, on Friday, May 3, Minds at Work will include Celebration of Writing, Student Research Symposium, Foundation Art Exhibition, Student Documentaries, and Theater Arts/Communication and Media Collaboration. The opening receptions for BFA/MFA Thesis Exhibitions will also take place on this date. These events, which have taken place on different days in the past, will be combined to provide a more powerful example of students’ accomplishments for people who may otherwise not be aware of this work....
