Chris Barons ’76 (Communication and Media) had his first novel, “In The Midst Of,” published this spring by New Age World Publishing. The story is set in the 1970s at an upstate college, which some readers will quickly realize is New Paltz. The book is dedicated to Professor Francis Paz (English, Emeritus). Erin Brady ’05 (Communication and Media) co-produced, shot and edited a story for Nightline on ABC, which aired on July 17. The story focused on unanswered questions and the apprehension that follow adoptees into adulthood. For more information on the story, visit http://tinyurl.com/5kdaj3.

Jodie Rodriquez ’08 (Educational Administration) received the 2007-2008 Past President’s Scholarship from the New York State Association of School Business Officials (NYSASBO). Rodriquez was nominated for the competitive scholarship by Jan Hammond (Educational Administration). Rodriquez will use the scholarship funds to help pay for her Certificate of Advanced Studies in School Leadership at New Paltz towards receiving her certification as a School District Business Leader. The certification program requires 30 additional credits beyond the master’s degree and includes a school business administration internship, which she will complete at Herkimer-Fulton- Hamilton BOCES this fall.

Stephen Herx ’92 (Music Department) will be one of three musicologists featured in the Marcella Sembrich symposium at the Sembrich Museum in Lake George on Aug. 9. Herx has written three major articles on Sembrich, a world-famous soprano, and is completing her biography.
