Ivan Lajara ’02 (Journalism), editor at the Daily Freeman received national recognition as one of the premier young journalists across the nation by Editor & Publisher: America’s oldest journal covering the newspaper industry. Lajara was one of the “25 under 35” honored for demonstrating leadership and innovation in journalism. Born in Lima, Peru, Lajara came to the United States in 1995. Andrea Varga (Theater Arts) led a group of 23 New Paltz students as part of the annual London Theatre Seminar in January for two weeks. During the program, they attended performances of plays and visited museums, galleries, historic sites and tours of theaters and other venues in order to gain perspective on the historical, political and socio-cultural attributes of theater in London and the United Kingdom.
