Students in the News Dana Burke ’09 (Geography) has been awarded a valuable and competitive summer student internship from the Mohonk Preserve. Through the Thom Scheuer Land Management Internship, Burke will be working with Mohonk staff on easements, fires and other exciting land issues. She is currently completing a geography internship at the Nature Conservancy. The centerpiece of the conference is student research showcased during a poster presentation competition and oral presentations. Students in the News Allison Duarte ’09 (Journalism), Jessica Golian ’09 (Childhood Education 1-6 – Spanish), Bexis Matos ’09 (Journalism – Public Relations) and Benjamin Olsen ’09 (Business Economics) will each receive a 2009 State University of New York Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence on April 7 at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany. The students are presented with a framed certificate and medallion, which is traditionally worn at commencement. Award recipients have an overall GPA of 3.78 or higher and have demonstrated academic distinction in leadership, athletics, community service, creative and performing arts or career achievement.

STUDENTS IN THE NEWS On Sept. 17, 24 students from the college’s Institute for International Business (IIB) visited Fox and Hound Wine and Spirits in New Paltz to participate in an interactive business presentation with owners Tom Edwards and Nick Ciallelo. On Oct. 17, the students head to New York City to complete the second half of the IIB program – an eight-week, full-time internship in New York City.
