School of Business granted AACSB International Accreditation

New Paltz’s School of Business has earned initial accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International, an accomplishment achieved by fewer than five percent of the world’s business programs. AACSB Accreditation, the hallmark of excellence in business education, requires a process of rigorous internal review, evaluation, and adjustment and took several years to complete. Alumni gift establishes new scholarship fund

Steven Brody ’73 and Karen Krause Brody ’71, ’80g have made a $25,000 gift to the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences to create an endowed fund to assist students facing unexpected financial challenges. The gift will be used as “an emergency scholarship fund to support junior or senior students with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 majoring in a degree program in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences whose ability to continue at New Paltz is threatened by a sudden change in financial circumstances, such as parental job loss,” according to the endowment agreement. “This is...

David Lavallee Student Travel Fund availability

The Provost’s Office announced the availability of funding to support travel by undergraduate and graduate students to present, exhibit, or perform their scholarly or creative work at regional and national conferences. These funds are available through the David Lavallee Student Travel Fund, named in honor of SUNY’s executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost David Lavallee, who served as provost of SUNY New Paltz from 1999-2009. Winter Session pilot program deemed a success

Julia Vogel ’13 (History) has been accepted into Teach for America, a national, nonprofit corps of college graduates who commit for two-year terms to teach in under-resourced school districts. “Teach for America recruits some of the highest achieving college grads to teach in some of the country’s poorest schools,” said Professor Michael Vargas (History). New Paltz has again been ranked among the top 100 best values in the nation for public four-year institutions that deliver a high quality education at an affordable price, according to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine’s annual rankings for 2012-13. The Office of the Provost is accepting nominations for the Provost Awards for Faculty Excellence, the first of a new annual award program that will recognize members of the New Paltz faculty.
