Invitations to faculty and staff holiday gatherings on the way

Invitations to the annual Holiday Open House for academic and professional faculty and the Awards Luncheon for classified staff, including Research Foundation grants recipients and University Police, will be sent via e-mail in the coming weeks. The Open House, hosted by President Steven Poskanzer and his wife, Jane, will be held at their home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12. The 24th Annual Awards Luncheon, sponsored by Sodexo, will take place at noon on Friday, Dec. 11, in the Athletic and Wellness Center.

Classified Staff members can enter to win New Paltz-themed prizes by guessing where the above photo was taken.

GUESS THE LOCATION: Classified Staff members can enter to win New Paltz-themed prizes at the State of the College address on Friday, Oct. 9, by guessing where the above photo was taken.

College President Steven Poskanzer will deliver the State of the College address to the Classified Staff from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, in Lecture Center 102.

The report of the college’s major accomplishments and plans for the future will be followed by introductions of new and transferred staff members and a reception.

Release time will be granted for those who attend.

Call for Classified Staff Presidential Award nominations

Nominations for the 2009 Classified Staff Presidential Awards are being accepted until April 24.

Now in its third year, the awards program recognizes exemplary service to the college by employees represented by CSEA (Civil Service Employee Union), PEF (Public Employees Federation) and ALES (Agency Law Enforcement Services).

Exemplary service may be in the form of:

  • Exceptional service in meeting student needs
  • Submission and/or implementation of an innovative idea that saves resources or generates new dollars
  • Excellence in overall service, supported by specific examples
  • An exceptional act of volunteerism for the campus.

Nominations can be made by a supervisor, fellow employee, student or other campus community member. Forms are also available in the Office of Human Resources, Haggerty Administration Building room 203.

The winners will be announced at the Faculty/Staff Appreciation Barbecue in May.

Staff invited to hear college address

President Steven Poskanzer will present the State of the College address to Classified Staff for the second year on Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. in Lecture Center 102.

In his annual report of the college’s operations, Poskanzer will speak about the campus’s progress toward its eight vision points, which also serve as goals for the new academic year.

Introductions of new staff and the announcement of transferred and promoted staff will also be made at the meeting.
