Awards, Appointments, Honors and Recognition

Daniel Jelski, dean of the School of Science and Engineering, has been awarded a subcontract from The Solar Energy Consortium for solar lab equipment funding. Mike Otis (Electrical Engineering) served as co-principal investigator on the project.

Mary Kahl (Communication and Media) will receive the Organization for the Study of Communication, Language and Gender’s Feminist Scholar/Mentor Award for 2009 at the organization’s conference in October.

The Design and Printing Services office received an Award of Excellence from the University and College Designers Association (UCDA) for an exhibition catalog for the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art’s “Take a Different Tack: Maggie Sherwood and the Floating Foundation of Photography” exhibition earlier this year. Jeff Lesperance (Design Services) created the catalog that accompanied the exhibition, which ran at The Dorsky Museum from January 24 to April 8, 2009. The catalog was one of 257 winners selected out of 1,300 entries from the United States, Canada and other countries. The winning entries will be on display at the 39th Annual UCDA Design Conference in Seattle from Oct. 3-6.
